Bronson is a city in Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 304 people lived there.[3]

Bronson was created in the 1880s. The first store and post office opened in September 1881.[5] The city used to be named Wilsonville. It was renamed after Ira Bronson, a Fort Scott attorney.[6] Bronson was moved to its current place when the Missouri Pacific Railroad passed the original town.[7]
Midway between Fort Scott and Iola on the highway and railroad, it became an important shipping and supply place for the agricultural area. Growth was slow but steady. In 1912, Bronson had two banks, an international money-order post office with four rural routes, express and telegraph offices, telephone connections, the semi-weekly Bronson Pilot newspaper, a downtown retail district, and public schools. In 1910 Bronson had the world's first horseshoe pitch tournament.[9]

Bronson is at 37°53′45″N 95°4′23″W / 37.89583°N 95.07306°W (37.895806, -95.073113). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.45 square miles (1.17 km2). All of it is land.[2] U.S. Route 54 intersects K-3 on Bronson's east side.[10]

The 2020 census says there were 304 people, 107 households, and 79 families living in Bronson. Of the households, 73.8% owned their home and 26.2% rented their home.
The median age was 32.3 years. Of the people, 85.9% were White, 3.0% were Black, 0.7% were Native American, 0.3% were Asian, 0.3% were from some other race, and 9.9% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.3% of the people.[3][11]

The 2010 census says that there were 323 people, 131 households, and 83 families living in Bronson.[12]

The 2000 census says that there were 346 people, 147 households, and 93 families living in Bronson.[13]

Bronson is a part of USD 235 Uniontown. The Uniontown High School mascot is Eagles.[14]

- Jonathan M. Davis, Kansas state representative, senator, and 22nd Kansas governor; born, raised and buried in Bronson.
