Карл Кокс (Carl Cox) е роден на 29 юли 1962 г. в град Олдам в северозападна Англия. Родителите му, имигранти от Барбадос му предават карибския парти дух. Още в детските си години той започва да пуска музика на партита, организирани от родителите му. На 15 г. той започва да работи като диджей. Бил е в клубове като: Shelly`s, Heaven, Angels, The Hacienda. През 1988 г. на рейва Sunrise, Карл Кокс за първи път в историята включва в сета си трети грамофон. Той е един от най-прочутите техно и хаус диджеи още от ранните години на рейв партитата на 80-те, през международната клубна сцена до днес.
Карл Кокс създава два лейбъла: Intec Records и 23rd Century Records.
