Inupiat family, by Edward S.Curtis, around 1929

The Inupiat are an ethnic group in Alaska and Canada, along the Bering Strait. There are about 33.000 Inupiat left. They are classified by the language they speak:

  • Seward Iñupiat: Northwest Alaska, along the Seward Peninsula.
  • North Alaska Inupiat: Canada, and the other parts of Alaska

Both languages are part of the inupiat languages.
