ロバート・ホイッタカー

ロバート・ホイッタカー（Robert Harding Whittaker、1920年12月27日 - 1980年10月20日）は、アメリカ合衆国の生物学者。コーネル大学教授を務めた。カンザス州出身。ワッシュバーン市立大学（英語版）を卒業後、イリノイ大学大学院でPh.D.を所得する。専門は植物生態学であり、植生分布の環境傾度分析 (gradient analysis) の手法を確立し、極相パターン説 (climax pattern theory) を提唱した。その他にも植生・植物群落の分布や分類、多様性に関する研究を数多く残している。また五界説の提唱者でもある。
