Le lord-maire de Dublin est le chef de Dublin City Council (en) et le premier citoyen de Dublin. Le titre a été créé en 1229 en tant que Mayor of Dublin. Il a été élevé au rang de Lord Mayor en 1665. La date de l'élection est la fin juin, et la durée du mandat est de 1 an.

Le Municipal Corporations (Ireland) Act 1840 (en) entre en vigueur. En vertu de cette loi, tous les contribuables avec une évaluation annuelle de £ 10 peuvent voter aux élections municipales et siéger au conseil. Le Dublin CorporationDublin Corporation (aujourd'hui le Dublin City Council) devient la nouvelle autorité municipale pour la ville de Dublin.
