Some of the Links need to be fixed as they go to other documents made referring to other articles irrevalent to Cal Poly. Overall the beta is here based on the CSU Pomona infobox. (Justsomeboi 23:14, 2 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

California Polytechnic State University[edit]

There are two universities that have an elided version of their name shortened to "Cal Poly". Hence, the Cal Poly article is a disambiguation page. California Polytechnic State University is also the official name to the university. Even the name of the template is Template:California Polytechnic State University--Marco Guzman, Jr (talk) 00:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Cal Poly" is an offical name of California Polytechnic State University. See http://warc.calpoly.edu/universityid/univnameuse.html. Such usage is explicitly rejected for use by Cal Poly Pomona. See http://www.csupomona.edu/~publicaffairs/graphics/nomenclature.shtml. Furthermore, just as a matter of practicality, there is no ambiguity with the California Polytechnic State University infobox using "Cal Poly," since this is their Wikipedia page. For example, if the University of Southern California infobox used "USC" on the top, it isn't ambiguous, even though the University of South Carolina uses the same moniker.
There seem to be a consensus that the full name of the university must appear on its infobox. Take a look at:

Hence the full name should also appear on Cal Poly-SLO's template. --Marco Guzman, Jr (talk) 22:47, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good point--I didn't notice the trend. I'll leave it as is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.205.242 (talk) 08:00, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

someone left me a message on my board when i changed it to cal poly. someone then changed it to add the logo as :cal poly slo. then someone took it off. however, another person wants me to add a logo that has the logo as California polytechnic state university instead of the current text, so i wanted to ask you guys should i add a logo that has the whole name or just leave it as it is. i dont want to change it if you guys dont want me too. if not i could make another logo.Javiern (talk) 00:37, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
the one i made right know looks similar to the current cal poly pomona logo except it does not have the pomona portion. so i will wait a few days to give you a chance to reply prior to me uploading it in order to get feedback on your thoughtsJaviern (talk) 00:46, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you are going to upload a logo, make sure it uses the full name of the university (California Polytechnic State University) rather than its elided version (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo among other variations). Also, make sure it's self-made otherwise it does not quealify for free-use.--Marco Guzman, Jr (talk) 00:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
