The Joni Villanueva General Hospital[1] is a government hospital in the Philippines. It is located in barangay Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan.
History
[edit]Groundbreaking of the hospital began on July 16, 2018. Initially established as an extension of the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, the hospital was first named after Filipino sprinter and war veteran Joaquin T. Villanueva, whose descendants donated the land where the hospital stands.[2] The hospital, renamed in honor of former Bocaue mayor Eleanor "Joni" J. Villanueva-Tugna, was first inaugurated on May 28, 2021 and opened on May 31, 2021 catering to patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.[3][4] It was re-inaugurated on December 12, 2022.[5] The project cost for the hospital was estimated to be at PHP 250 million in 2018[2] but was later revised to PHP 300 million in 2021.[6]
Facility and services
[edit]The hospital is located in barangay Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan and accessible from the North Luzon Expressway via the Ciudad de Victoria exit. Initially with 29 beds,[5] the hospital's capacity was extended to 89 beds in June 2024.[7] A Malasakit Center branch, the fourth to be established in Bulacan province, was opened on March 11, 2024.[8]
