English: Longitudinal section of an adult Gastrodiscoides hominis (Digenea: Paramphistomata: Gastrodiscidae).
  • a – oral sucker consisting of a tranverselly placed oval orifice, surrounded by a ring of muscular tissue and presenting in many specimens a slight papilla-like prominence;
  • b – bulbous heart-shaped pharynx with the apex directed anteriorly;
  • c – Nercous ganglia on the one side communicating with those of the other by means of a comparatively strong cord passing transversely behind oesophagus;
  • d – oesophagus bifurcating behind the genital pore;
  • e – genital pore situated posteriorly to oral sucker;
  • f – vagina filled with eggs in mature specimen;
  • g – ductus ejaculatorum
  • h – large nerve cords which may be traced along the ventral surface of the two intestinal canals;
  • i – two intestine canals caecally terminated about opposite the middle half of the caudal sucker;
  • j – testes;
  • k – water-vascular system closely attached to the intesine canal on either side connected with numerous fine canaculae;
  • l – ovarium;
  • m – main vitellogene ducts;
  • n – vitellogene ducts with dendriform arrangement;
  • o – ?
  • p – caudal sucker.
