Description

Woodcut by artist Günther Strupp, who was held at Kemna concentration camp around the age of 21. The woodcut is filled with details of the artist's imprisonment, the date, German name of the camp (KZ Kemna), weapons used to beat and torture prisoners, evidence of blood and violence. The guard is identified as an SA man (see the handle of his dagger), the pips on the collar of his uniform, the style of his cap, the swastika on his arm.
