The shield is surmounted by the Papal Tiara and set against the keys Or and argent in saltire position, pointing upward. These, being the symbol of the authority of Roman Catholic Pope,signify that the Pontificio Collegio Filippino is a Church institution of Pontifical rights, i.e., functions by the authority of the Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church.
